Highway of the Dead
Mission briefing
Walk the last highway through a zombie wasteland. Highway of the Dead is an auto-battler RPG: your survivor fights on his own while you make the calls that matter. Every fallen zombie can drop new gear - swipe it right to equip or left to sell it for gold. Train your hero in the tavern, fill your slots with weapons, armor and trinkets, and push from section to section as day turns to night on the road. Meet lost souls and choose good or evil to call faction bosses, survive elite special encounters, and raid rival survivor shelters to win trophies that unlock new maps with stronger loot. Short sessions, steady progress, and a road that never ends.
Field manual
Your survivor walks and fights automatically. When gear drops, swipe the card right to equip it or left to sell it for gold (on desktop, drag it with the mouse). When the ability bar appears, tap it to land a power strike. Spend gold in the Tavern to train your hero, summon bosses from the Bosses tab, and open PvP Raid to attack rival shelters for trophies and new maps.
Launch orders: press Launch mission above and the game loads on this page itself — nothing downloads and no form stands between you and the first move. It is designed for a portrait (upright) screen and takes its orders from mouse, keyboard or touch, depending on the mission. It is built tall, for an upright screen — a phone held normally frames it best, though any window will run it. If it offers a fullscreen control, use it — a fight this size deserves the whole screen.
Field notes for zombie operations
- The horde is a resource problem wearing a horror costume. Every bullet spent on one zombie is one not spent on the five behind it — line them up, funnel them, make each shot plural.
- Barricades buy seconds, not safety. Spend those seconds on the next line of defense or the exit, never on admiring the first one.
- Noise is a beacon. Loud weapons solve the zombie in front of you and summon the street behind you; the quiet option is often the shot you do not take.
Highway of the Dead — questions from the ranks
What does it cost to play Highway of the Dead?
Nothing at all. The mission is free from the first order to the last — no sign-up, no download, no paid tier guarding the good levels. The advertising around this page is what keeps the board free.
What sort of mission is Highway of the Dead?
Highway of the Dead is filed in our Zombie theatre. Like every operation on this board, it is a browser game — read the briefing above for the publisher's own account of what you are deploying into.
Can I run Highway of the Dead on a phone or tablet?
Yes. It plays in the browser on phones and tablets exactly as it does on a computer. It is built tall, for an upright screen — a phone held normally frames it best, though any window will run it.
Do I have to install anything before playing?
No installation of any kind. Highway of the Dead is an HTML5 game: press the launch button and it loads on this page, and closing the tab leaves nothing behind.
