Hold the Line: Defense & Strategy Picks
Every game on this list is about the same sentence: they are coming, and this ground is yours. Tower defense and strategy share that sentence at different speeds — one thinks in waves and placements, the other in economies and campaigns — and we shelve them together because the player who enjoys either tends to respect the other's homework.
We front-load the files that make their decisions interesting early. A defense game lives or dies on whether its fifth wave asks a new question, and a strategy game on whether its opening build order matters by minute ten. The picks below passed both tests, in roster order, with notes where a game does something its neighbours don't.
The order of battle, with our reasoning
The fusion edition of the backyard classic — a familiar lawn, hybrid mechanics, and the same undead appointment.
Build a hero army, defend your towers and conquer era after era — the flagship campaign of the defense shelf.
Tank warriors across time: a tower-defense war where your column is both the wall and the argument.
A military tycoon under the strategy flag: run the base, train the soldiers, then take territory with them.
The one defensible zombie strategy: summon the horde, upgrade it, and be the wave for once.
