Field manual
Chess Online Multiplayer follows the classic rules of chess. The goal of the game is to checkmate your opponent’s king, putting it in a position where it is under threat of capture and has no legal moves to escape. **Getting Started** 1. **Choose the game type:** * play online against other players; * challenge the computer; * play together on the same screen with a friend. 2. **If you’re playing against the computer:** * select the opponent’s difficulty level (from Beginner to World Champion); * choose whether to use a handicap and interactive hints. 3. **If you’re playing with a friend:** * decide on the time control mode (Unlimited, Bullet, Blitz, Rapid, Classic). * choose your bet **Basic Rules and Gameplay** * Players take turns making moves. * Pawns move forward and capture diagonally. * Knights move in an «L» shape. * Other pieces have their own unique moves. To succeed, develop a strategy: protect your pieces, control the center of the board, and anticipate your opponent’s moves. The game ends when one player checkmates the opponent’s king (winning the game) or when a draw is achieved under certain conditions. **Draw Conditions** A draw is a result where neither player wins, and the game ends in a tie. It can occur under the following circumstances: * **stalemate:** when a player has no legal moves but is not in check; * **three-fold repetition of the position:** when the same position occurs three times; * **50 moves without a capture or pawn move;** * **insufficient material to checkmate;** * mutual agreement between players. **Special Chess Moves** **Castling** Castling is a special move involving the king and a rook. It can be performed only if: * neither the king nor the rook has moved yet; * there are no other pieces between the king and the rook; * the king is not in check; * the king does not pass through or stop on squares that are under attack. This move helps to protect the king and connect the rooks for better defense. **En Passant (Taking on Pass)** En passant is a special pawn capture. If your opponent moves a pawn two squares forward and lands next to your pawn, you can capture it on your next move as if it had moved only one square. Your pawn will take its place, but this capture must be done immediately. **Additional Features** * **Made a mistake?** Use the move undo function to reconsider your strategy. * After each match, a detailed analysis highlights mistakes and suggests better moves. * You can replay specific moments to strengthen your understanding of the game. * Save your rating and choose different time modes (Bullet, Blitz, Rapid). * Customize the board and pieces to your liking. * Review the move history and express your emotions by communicating with your opponent using playful cartoon emojis.
Launch orders: press Launch mission above and the game loads on this page itself — nothing downloads and no form stands between you and the first move. It is designed for a portrait (upright) screen and takes its orders from mouse, keyboard or touch, depending on the mission. It is built tall, for an upright screen — a phone held normally frames it best, though any window will run it. If it offers a fullscreen control, use it — a fight this size deserves the whole screen.
Field notes for multiplayer operations
- The first match against strangers is tuition. You are not there to win it; you are there to learn the map, the pacing and what the regulars do that the tutorial never mentioned.
- Ping and position beat raw aim. A stable connection and a sensible place to stand will win you more rounds than any sensitivity setting ever published.
- Rematch the player who beat you cleanly. Queues are random, but lessons are not — the opponent who outplayed you is a free coach for exactly the skill you are missing.
Chess Online Multiplayer — questions from the ranks
What does it cost to play Chess Online Multiplayer?
Nothing at all. The mission is free from the first order to the last — no sign-up, no download, no paid tier guarding the good levels. The advertising around this page is what keeps the board free.
What sort of mission is Chess Online Multiplayer?
Chess Online Multiplayer is filed in our Multiplayer theatre. Like every operation on this board, it is a browser game — read the briefing above for the publisher's own account of what you are deploying into.
Can I run Chess Online Multiplayer on a phone or tablet?
Yes. It plays in the browser on phones and tablets exactly as it does on a computer. It is built tall, for an upright screen — a phone held normally frames it best, though any window will run it.
Do I have to install anything before playing?
No installation of any kind. Chess Online Multiplayer is an HTML5 game: press the launch button and it loads on this page, and closing the tab leaves nothing behind.
